Dhiraagu and Women in Tech Maldives have joined forces to host the ‘Hour of CodeTM @ Let’sCodeMV 2023’ event across the Maldives, aligning with the global celebration of International Computer Science Week in December. With the endorsement of the Ministry of Education, the program aims to engage over 1000 students virtually, covering all atolls in the Maldives. Scheduled for December 16, 2023, the primary ‘Hour of Code’ event will be complemented by physical guiding sessions until December 20, 2023.
Participants, ranging from pre-school to various educational levels, will be organized into different age groups. Facilitators will conduct enjoyable and introductory activities to inspire learners of all skill levels, emphasizing the significance of computer science education.

Originally introduced by Code.org, this program is part of a global movement that has impacted millions of students across 180 countries, offering a one-hour introduction to computer programming in an enjoyable manner. Serving as the international partner of Code.org, Women in Tech Maldives, in collaboration with Dhiraagu, has successfully conducted the ‘Hour of Code’ program in the Maldives in previous years.
The ‘Hour of Code’ initiative serves as a valuable introduction to coding for students of all ages, fostering an interest in computer science. Early exposure to computer science lays the foundation for success in the 21st century, enhancing creativity and problem-solving skills.
