InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort is extending an invitation to guests for the upcoming third edition of The Manta Retreat, scheduled for March 2024.
Set to unfold from March 9 to 12 at the resort, The Manta Retreat entails a participation fee of USD 1,490 per person. The retreat’s activities encompass two manta ray snorkeling excursions, a guided house reef snorkeling experience, the opportunity to name and adopt a manta ray, and various workshops shedding light on these majestic ocean creatures.
In addition to the scheduled activities, guests can opt for additional experiences such as diving and snorkeling trips, cruises, excursions, or spa and wellness treatments, each available at individual extra charges.
Participants residing at InterContinental Maamunagau Maldives will not only have access to the luxurious resort facilities but can also indulge in their villa or residence accommodations during the retreat.
The focal point of the third edition of The Manta Retreat revolves around “meeting the manta rays that call the island’s surrounding waters their home and their protection and ocean conservation.”
Leading the retreat is Meral Hafeez, the Manta Trust base leader at the resort. Hafeez expressed, “Most of the days are spent out in the water looking for manta rays to record and observe their behavior to gain vital information relevant for their protection. No matter how many times I’m lucky enough to encounter these animals, each interaction feels like seeing them for the first time – the sense of awe never diminishes.”
