Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) Chairman, Mohamed Umar Manik, has officially resigned, as confirmed by the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) on Thursday, January 28th.
Manik attributed his resignation to health reasons, expressing concerns about his ability to fulfill his duties effectively in light of his health condition. Having joined MACL’s board in 2013, he had served as Chairman, contributing significantly to the Maldives tourism industry and earning recognition as a respected figure in its development.
Despite stepping down from his role at MACL, Manik continues his involvement in the tourism sector, maintaining his position as the co-founder and Chairman of the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI).
