According to the Ministry of Tourism, India has become the top source of tourists for the Maldives, surpassing Russia in recent statistics.
The data reveals that the Maldives welcomed 205,278 visitors from India this year, making up 11.2% of the total tourist arrivals. This shift has moved Russia to the second spot, with 203,539 tourist arrivals, accounting for 11.1% of the total.
This year, India has once again taken the lead over Russia as the primary tourist market for the Maldives, repeating a trend observed in April when Indian arrivals reached 17,577, surpassing Russia’s 16,979 arrivals.
With a target of 1.9 million tourist arrivals set by the previous administration for this year, the Maldives has currently recorded 1,834,759 tourist arrivals. Although close, there is still a need to meet the set target with a few days remaining in the year.
