Regional Airports Company Unveils Expansion Project for Kulhudhuffushi Airport Terminal

Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL), which oversees Kulhudhuffushi Airport, is inviting proposals for the redevelopment and expansion of the airport’s passenger terminal.

This initiative, driven by the vision of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, is spearheaded by the newly appointed Managing Director, Ahmed Mubeen.

The primary goals of this redevelopment project include accommodating the growing number of passengers, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with local and international aviation regulations.

The proposed plans feature the construction of a new single-story Passenger Terminal covering 11,345 sqft, along with the addition of shading over a 11,657 sqft area around the terminal. Structural modifications to existing facilities, enhanced passenger amenities, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards are integral aspects of the project.

The selected bidder will be responsible for executing the project within the specified Terms of Reference and timeframe. Envisaged facilities for the terminal include a world-class baggage belt, ticket counters, waiting areas, public restrooms, a food court, and a clinic room.

Construction firms interested in this transformative project, duly registered under the relevant authorities, are encouraged to submit their Expressions of Interest (EOI) via email to tender@airports.mv by 23:59hrs on January 9, 2024, Tuesday. Following the registration period, the complete set of Tender Documents will be shared with all registered parties via email.

Kulhudhufushi, recognized as the economic hub of North Maldives with a population exceeding 15,000, houses essential facilities such as an A-category hospital, the Maldives National University campus, college centers, sports facilities, customs, and a port. The redevelopment of Kulhudhuffushi Airport’s passenger terminal aligns with the city’s strategic growth and meets the increasing demands of its vibrant community.
