President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed arrived in the People’s Republic of China on Monday morning for a state visit, at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Upon their arrival, the President and First Lady were warmly greeted by senior Chinese officials.
The purpose of this visit is to facilitate official talks and the signing of key agreements between the Maldivian and Chinese governments. These agreements aim to enhance trade, professional collaboration, and socioeconomic development in the Maldives, fostering technological and other partnerships between the two countries.
In addition to official discussions, the President is scheduled to meet with senior Chinese government officials, participate in the Invest Maldives Forum, and engage in meetings with Chinese business leaders. The goal is to explore opportunities for mutual collaboration in investments and trade between the Maldives and China.
Accompanying the President and the First Lady is a high-level delegation. This marks President Dr. Muizzu’s first state visit since assuming office on November 17, 2023.
