Today, Villa College hosted a gathering to validate the ‘Ethical Code of Conduct for Psychology and Counseling Professionals in the Maldives.’ Led by students from the Master of Science (Counselling) program, the session aimed to seek input from local counseling and psychology professionals to establish ethical standards for psychological care.
Villa College shared that the framework was created by examining ethical standards from various countries and adapting them to the cultural context and lives of Maldivians. The institution emphasizes that such a framework will play a crucial role in safeguarding the rights of those seeking mental health care and ensuring their dignity.
As part of Villa College’s efforts to enhance the counseling field in the country, the Master of Science (Counselling) program has been in operation since January 2023. Additionally, a new center dedicated to mental health services is scheduled to open at Villa College this month.
