Ooredoo Maldives Drone Race 2023 Takes Flight to a Successful Finish

The Ooredoo Drone Race 2023, the first-ever drone race in the Maldives, concluded on December 23rd at Hulhumale Central Park. Twelve skilled pilots showcased their drone racing talents in two categories, adding a new dimension to the RC hobby.

In the Sky Walker Category, eight pilots navigated their drones through four challenging obstacles. Ibrahim Shabil secured the top spot with an impressive time of 01:11:78, winning a DJI Mini 2 SE. Asham Shareef claimed second place at 01:25:94, earning an Ooredoo 5G AirFibre Device with a 3-month (750GB) package. Mifzal Ibrahim Fazeel secured third place with a time of 01:27:36, receiving a Moolee Voucher worth MVR 1000.

The Sky Elite Category brought more excitement as four participants tackled 9 obstacles to complete 2 laps in the fastest time. Mohamed Alin Shafiu dominated the category, securing first place with a time of 1:00:55 and winning a DJI Mini 3 Pro (DJI RC). Hamza Waseem claimed second place at 1:06:11, securing an Ooredoo 5G AirFibre Device with a 3-month (1536 GB) package. Hussain Aloof Riyaz secured the third spot with a time of 1:08:10, winning a Moolee Voucher worth MVR 2000.

Hussain Niyaz, Chief Commercial Officer of Ooredoo Maldives, expressed delight at the successful execution of the event and congratulated all the winners. He mentioned the excitement about enabling more drone racing opportunities in the Maldives with future events.

Ibrahim Nihad, Managing Director of Stabisys Maldives, the official DJI Authorized Seller in the Maldives, expressed pride in the successful conclusion of the race. He thanked all participants and supporters and looked forward to the growth of FPV racing in the Maldives.
